D.A.D.S. assists in developing a sense of responsibility through effective fathering.

Fatherless children:
  • Make up 80% of African American children.
  • Are 70% of juveniles in reform and long term prison inmates.
  • Are more likely to drop out of school, have problems with drug and alcohol addiction, and have emotional or behavioral problems.

D.A.D.S. provides a one-on-one case advocacy program for fathers in need of family services. This includes assistance with reunification with their children, referrals to drug and alcohol treatment programs, employment counseling and assistance with child support adjustments and with developing plans to pay off arrearages, assistance with housing, legal assistance, parenting classes, and family stability programs.

Giving Fathers Hope

"D.A.D.S. has helped me to be a better individual. To be around the group inspires me. I can come here and get advice for things I don't understand.... D.A.D.S. is a way to help me reach my goal. Today I'm not a 'Deadbeat Dad', 'I'm Responsible.'" - Steve

"(D.A.D.S. helps me realize) I'm not the only one in the situation I'm in.... I get information to better combat the situation I am dealing with...different steps need to be followed in order to get things done the right way instead of the way I want to see it done." - William

"I get focused on what direction to take and the peace of mind that you can get an understanding of what's out there for you and what doesn't work for you..." - Darren

"(By being an involved father) I want to give my children a sense of identity. By coming to this group it has given me the understanding that it's not just me. Other guys are in the same situation.... I want to be a responsible leader to my kids." - Eric
